JIP33 issues actuators specification for review

JIP33 has issued S-707 “Supplementary Specification to ISO 12490  Actuators for On-off Valves” for public review. The consultation period runs for four weeks and will close on October 18th.

“We are delighted to open this draft specification to industry feedback,” says Adri Postema, JIP33 Project Director. “We encourage contractors and operators to sign-up to our mailing list and Twitter account to ensure that they receive alerts on future feedback opportunities.”

S-707 defines a minimum common set of supplement requirements for the procurement of Actuators for On-Off Valves in accordance with ISO 12490 First Edition, 2011, Petroleum and natural gas industries — Mechanical integrity and sizing of actuators and mounting kits for pipeline valves, for application in the petroleum and natural gas industries.

The procurement specification follows a common document structure comprising four documents, which together with the purchase order define the overall technical specification for procurement.

It has been developed in consultation with a broad user and supplier base to realize benefits from standardization and achieve significant project and schedule cost reductions.
