First engineering contractor signs up to JIP33

Aker Solutions has become the first engineering contractor to sign up to collaborate on JIP33 and use the specifications in its standard working practices.

(Richard Mortimer and Dean Watson sign a memorandum of understanding on adopting JIP33 specifications.)

Dean Watson, Chief Operating Officer of Aker Solutions says:

“Being an early adopter will boost our attractiveness both as a products supplier and for our engineering and procurement services work.”

The agreement shows growing recognition across the oil and gas industry that standardised specifications can deliver real benefits.

Richard Mortimer, VP Engineering BP and Chair of the JIP33 steering committee adds:

“This is a big step forward for us. We’re already talking with other engineering contractors about signing up to the same agreement Aker Solutions are pioneering.

“Almost 500 operators, contractors and suppliers explored  JIP33 at our recent Industry Days. We were delighted to see such high levels of interest.”

About JIP33

The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP)  started Joint Industry Programme (JIP) 33 in 2016 to develop standardised specifications, so the supply chain becomes better, cheaper and faster.  This makes the industry more competitive, and a more attractive investment proposition.

14 specifications have already been published and are delivering benefits for users on major projects.
